Meet Vahram Nersessian

“Here I feel appreciated and I feel that the management team treats employees more like family than just ‘an employee.”

Vahram Nersessian

Meet Vahram Nersessian, Software Quality Analyst, vegetarian activist, cyclist and DJ.

Why did you choose IT?

I graduated in Computer Science and while I was in high school, I already had many friends working in the field and I felt it was a good and booming industry to work in and a good option to study.

What are you particularly passionate about within your industry?

Definitely technology itself. I wasn’t in software, I was always more a hardware guy, I liked servers and networking. Aspire asked me to start working on software and I really enjoyed it. Software is trivial and keeps your brain working.

Why Aspire?

Here I feel appreciated and I feel that the management team treats employees more like family than just ‘an employee’.

What do you work on at Aspire?

Currently, I am testing front-end and back-end on mobile applications and websites. Looking for defects and bugs.

What was the path to your current role at Aspire?

I have been here for a total of 5 years. I started off as a Customer Service Representative, I stayed in this position for a year and a half. I then moved on to become a Technical Assistant Engineer at another company working on Cisco Technologies for another year and a half. My family and I then decided to open our own business, selling pharmaceutical raw materials. My family-business still exists and I worked there for three years, however, I felt that I wanted to move back into IT and I came back to Aspire as a Quality Analyst. I have been here for three and a half years so far.

What does your typical day look like?

At first, I check my tickets and check what I received from the client. Then, I have a quick chat with my teammates just to sync up. If there are any urgent matters, I deal with them first. I always have a coffee break with my colleague’s mid-way through the morning. At lunch time, I eat quickly and I like to take a quick nap at my desk. When I have meetings with the client who is in San Francisco, I leave early as these happen quite late at night. When I get home, I either exercise, ride my bike, focus on my self-development PMP material or watch series.

Most memorable moment at Aspire?

Seeing Mr. Kaushal, our Founder, again after I returned to Aspire. He was very welcoming.

What are your ambitions within the company?

I want to help in decision making and move into the admin side of things, more business-related aspects rather than just QA.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Every Friday is a cycling day, I ride about 100 km. In winter I usually start from the Dead Sea. Sometimes during my vacation break, I travel to Europe and ride to multiple countries. During my last one, I went to Sweden, Denmark and Germany mainly by biking, ferries and trains, it was a lot of fun!

What is your favorite movie/series?

My favorite movie is ‘A Good Year’. I don’t have a favorite series; however, I am currently watching a documentary series called ‘Cosmic Disclosure’, it talks about aliens and it’s very interesting.

What is something that will surprise your colleagues?

That I am a vegetarian cyclist and that I DJed trance & progressive tunes in a 5-star hotel, in one of the most famous pubs in Amman and also in the best local electronic music radio station.

What’s your favorite song?

I love electronic music, my top three favorite DJs are: DJ Ferry Corsten, Chacal and Wisin & Yandel. The song ‘Si Supieras’ from Wisin & Yandel is my everyday alarm song; however, my favorite song of all time is ‘Ordinary’ from Buzzhorn and the only band I always go back to listen to is Eiffel 65.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

A blue whale, simply because it’s the biggest animal that ever existed.

What is one thing you want to do before it is too late?

Go to the Amazon in Brazil.

What superpower would you like to have?

Flying, so that I can be free.

If you had to eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza! My favorite toppings are sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and feta.

What’s your life philosophy?

Help others and make life easier for others when possible. The world needs more empathy.
